In the interest of safety and enjoyment of our hobby it is essential that our members are:
Firstly, proficient to fly his/her aircraft without an instructor, and in such a way that is safe
for everyone present.
Secondly, it is a requirement of our insurer that pilots flying on their own do have at least a
solo status.
Thirdly, it will provide a challenge for the aeromodeler to advance to the next level of the sport.
All pilots at PRF flying on their own must have done at least a solo test. A solo status is like
a drivers license, without it you need an instructor, who will assist you until you have successfully
completed a solo test.
Advancing to the next level can be done entirely at your own pace. Getting a solo rating gives purpose
and a sense of achievement to each pilot.
(See Samaa documentation for more information.)
In conclusion, it is imperative that all pilots are soloed ASAP. New and trainee pilots will be entered
into a training program to ensure that they get their solo status ASAP. This will ensure that the pilot
knows what is expected of him.
Ongoing testing of currently soloed pilots may be conducted in order to meet with the requirements of
our insurance policy.
Pilots, that have been absent from flying more than a year, will need to be retested to ensure
that his/her standard of flying meets the required level.
